I don't know why, but every New Year since 2000, I think back to the crazy run up to the anticipated dawn of a new millenium and the "Y2K bug" that never materialized. For me, it is not so much the hype about Y2K, it is more that the year "2000" seemed such a huge milestone. Heck, there was the movie released in the 1960's, 2001: A Space Odyssey, that had humans living on the Moon and sending a habitable space ship to Jupiter. Of course, when 2000 rolled around, it turned out that mankind was (and still is) quite aways from accomplishing those goals. But, at any rate, that movie and others foretold what the future would be like it in 2000 - and it was going "to be something wonderful!" So as the years rack up in the new millenium, and the year 2000 is further and further in the rearview mirror, I can't help but reflect on what my thoughts were about the year 2000 as a seminal event, and how the years since, not burdened by the anticipation, are open ended possibilities. Don't know if that makes any sense (and I suppose to anyone under 30, sounds completely ridiculous). But the positive thing for me is that as we ring in a New Year, 2015, it is another year full of possibilities - hopefully the vast majority portending great things. So let me and my colleagues here at Healthmark extend to you, gentle reader, wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2015, with the possibilities for joy and happiness becoming a reality for you and yours.
