I hope that during the week of October 12-19th all the Sterile Processing Technicians across the country were able to take part in activities in their hospitals or within their local chapters that celebrated Sterile Processing Week. While out visiting with some of the hospitals, I came across a really neat tradition that the Sterile Processing Manager at Advocate Christ Hospital, in Oak Lawn, IL, Yves Theodule, has been doing for years with his team. They call it the SEVY Award, standing for Service, Excellence, Value and You as a Technician. Each year the difficult task of selecting one deserving individual is completed well in time to prepare a special recognition plaque for the recipient. This year's award winner, Renee Wozniak is a 21 year veteran in the field of Sterile Processing. I have personally had the opportunity to work with Renee in the department and it was easy to see by her attention to detail, meticulous work and positive "can-do" attitude why she is this year's recipient. Congratulations to Renee and all of the wonderful technicians that keep our hospitals running smoothly all year long.
